I følge Wikipedia så er dette på ingen måte eventyr for alle: "As of 2005, the island was for sale with an estimated price tag of $7 million. A group called the Oak Island Tourism Society had hoped the government of Canada would purchase the island, but a few Michigan men in the drilling industry did so instead."
